Hello world!

30 Aug

On the first day of the Intro to New Media class at UNC Chapel Hill, we watched Dziga Vertov’s Man With a Movie Camera. An eye superimposed on a lens watches the audience, and the people in the film are shown becoming aware of the camera, in a cycle that lasts the entire film. We are under constant surveillance, as we choose to look or not to look. We could compare it to those internet ads that try to sell us the same crap we were recorded browsing through the other day. We are part of the machine, and the future, as they say, is here.
